Net Zero Home Builders

In May 2019, Victoria and Phil Morley asked whether I’d be interested in documenting them building their inaugural net zero home–the first of its kind in the Kootenays and the home through which their brainchild, Morley Mountain Homes, would gain the certification it would need so they could call themselves certified Net Zero home builders.

Victoria is a meticulous interior designer. Phil is a conscientious licensed builder. With products and services from Stanley Office of Architecture, 3West Building Energy Consultants, Effistruc, and Oso Renewable Energy, Victoria and Phil created a shining example of the gold standard in new home builds. It was fascinating to see the inner workings of building a home. From the Shou sugi ban burnt cedar siding, to the gorgeous backsplash in their luxurious kitchen, the house is scrupulously planned and executed.

I will fail to do it justice if I try to explain it myself, so go to net zero home builders Morley Mountain Homes to learn the specifics behind the vision of this literally ground breaking house. Congratulations, Victoria and Phil. To see your vision come to fruition, knowing you’re actively working to use the technology and resources available to reduce climate change, is endlessly inspiring.
